A Place In The Sun’s Jonnie Irwin’s cancer procedure caused irreversible damage
Jonnie Irwin, 49, has shared an update about his medical procedure that left him with serious damage.
The A Place In The Sun presenter is battling terminal cancer after being diagnosed with lung cancer over two years ago.
The TV star was shooting a project in Italy when he realised something might be wrong with his health.
In August 2020 Jonnie experienced an episode of blurry vision whilst driving which resulted in tests that confirmed he had developed cancer which eventually spread to his brain.
Speaking to Hello! magazine, Jonnie shared how he went for treatment in Turkey, only to discover that it had led him to irreversible liver damage.

Jonnie said: “It’s blocked in a place they can’t operate on, so there’s no point fighting the cancer elsewhere if the liver’s not working. It’s a cruel blow.
“It can happen at any time. I’m here to stop it for as long as possible.”
He added that he was currently in pain and was “not good to be around when in pain.”
Jonnie shared that he spent time in a hospice to deal with the problem and because his three children have yet to be told about the diagnosis.
The father-of-three also confirmed that he would “remove himself” from the family home for relief and so as not to affect his children with his mood changes.
He added: “I’m like a bear with a sore head and I don’t want them to be around that.”
Jonnie has three sons with wife Jessica Holmes, Rex, three, and twin boys Rafa and Corma, two.
Regarding the future, the Leicestershire-born star spoke about death: “It can happen at any time. I’m here to stop it for as long as possible.”
Jonnie went public with the news of his diagnosis last year to get the “monkey off [his] back”.
He also spoke about the upcoming Father’s Day on June 18 and how it may be his last.
Jonnie continued: “It would be horrible news that they’d have to get their heads around.
“And it would confuse the hell out of Rex – he’s got a shocking enough day coming.”
However, the TV host remains optimistic as he “try[s] to stay positive” and his “attitude is that I’m living with cancer, not dying from it.”
