A giant Oscar, 25 bathrooms and a volcano: Inside the £9m movie mega-mansion
When you know you’re the main character, you ought to have a home that reflects that star quality – and this Florida mansion will do just that.
With a giant Oscar statue and red carpets welcoming you home, you’ll feel like a movie star before you’ve even walked through the door.
And, once you get inside, things take an even more jaw-dropping turn. Each of the 20 bedrooms in the VIP Hollywood Experience Mansion (FYI, Florida is over 2,000 miles away from Hollywood) is themed after famous films.
From Wizard of Oz and Singin’ In The Rain to Gladiator and Jaws – and you’re greeted with the theme tune as you walk in. Yes, really.
But the bedrooms are just the start. There’s a bowling alley, basketball court, arcade, and a pool featuring a lazy river, water slide, volcano and tiki hut.
There’s also a gigantic cinema room (of course) – but that’s not the only place you can watch your favourite films.
The listing on Rightmove helpfully explains: ‘After a night of gorging like a king, you might not feel like going upstairs to the movie theater, you and your VIP guests can enjoy the multiple LED video walls in the living area to enjoy your favorite movie, sporting event or TV show.’
Handy.
Of course, you’ll need celeb-style deep pockets to afford this lavish home, as it’s currently on the market for $11,750,000 – which is about £9,000,000.
But the supersize price tag means supersize living. This place also has a huge kitchen with four fridges, a dining area that seats 37 people and 25 bathrooms.
The listing reads: ‘Close to all major attractions, this is a custom-built compound where anyone can come live like elite movie stars surrounded by luxury.
‘Once you arrive, you never have to leave!’
And, while you could chose to make it your home, the listing points out that you could make a small fortune by renting it out, with ‘estimated annual gross earnings of $1.4 million.’
‘Complete with management in place, just sit back and collect the revenue!’ it reads.
While the listing is certainly enthusiastic, the unusual home has received mixed reviews online after it was posted to Reddit.
‘What the f*ck is going on? I need a paracetamol’ said one confused viewer. ‘It’s like a horrible fever dream,’ said another.
While a third added: ‘I have loads of words but none of them are positive.’
However, it wasn’t all bad. Others have been quick to praise the home for it’s uniqueness.
‘At least it’s not boring!’ came one review. ‘I think (for what it’s trying to be) it’s great!’, said another supportive commenter.
