A Game Where You’re Stuck In A T-Pose And More From The Annapurna Showcase

The summer game reveal season appears to be mostly behind us, but Annapurna Interactive held its own showcase event packed with game reveals and updates on older projects. The announcements included a new platform for Stray, a release date for Thirsty Suitors, and more details on the futuristic mech-western Bounty Stars. The biggest news of the presentation was a new Blade Runner game, with a moody trailer that evoked the feeling of the two films. You can check out all the announcements and trailers below.

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes

The first trailer was an update on Lorelei and the Laser Eyes. Presented like a paranoid thriller, the trailer had lots of cloak-and-dagger elements wrapped up in an enigmatic narrator. The trailer presented itself like a puzzle box, even ending with what appeared to be a cipher of some sort.

Cocoon

The next game from Limbo and Inside lead designer Jeppe Carlson is similarly spooky to those projects, with a new isometric perspective. The trailer was moody and evocative, and set a release date of September 29.

Lushfoil Photography Sim

This new game announcement was all about capturing picturesque, real-life landscapes. Though most of the trailer showed you walking through the landscapes in first-person, it also featured a classic camera viewfinder to express how you’ll capture the world in photography.

To a T

This cute episodic adventure game got an update showing how the protagonist, simply called Teen, lives his life with his arms permanently locked in a T-pose. Just go with it.

Flock

A multiplayer co-op game from the developers of Hohokum and I Am Dead, Flock is all about finding unusual animated birds and adding them to your avian group. The brief trailer showed two players helping each other locate rare birds, and detailing how flying sheep can be used to harvest wool for crafting.

Ghost Bike

Ghost Bike is a new game from Messhof that puts you behind the handlebar of a magical bicycle that can traverse between the land of the living and the dead. You’ll win races against the dead to unlock more ghost power and travel back to revive the spirit of biking.

Mundaun

A platform update to the creepy adventure game Mundaun makes it natively available on the newest generation of consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, adding 4K/60fps support. An update has also been issued for the older versions with bug fixes and additional language options.

Bounty Star: The Morose Tale of Graveyard Clem

A new trailer for Bounty Star details how the game will be bisected into two major components. You’ll hunt down bounties using your futuristic mech, which can be outfitted with a wide variety of weaponry. When not actively hunting outlaws, you’ll be managing your bounty business with base building and farming elements. Bounty Star is coming in early 2024.

Thirsty Suitors

The latest trailer for the dating adventure and skateboarding mashup Thirsty Suitors mostly recapped the story as we know it, as you try to navigate your love-life, your parents, and your relationship with your sister. The big reveal, though, was that it finally has a release date of November 2.

Stray and Storyteller Coming to New Platforms

New trailers for Stray and Storyteller revealed new platforms for each game. Stray will be coming to Xbox on August 10, as announced by a cute trailer featuring the kitty knocking over an Xbox controller. The adventure-puzzle game Storyteller, meanwhile, will be getting a large update with new scenarios on September 26, and it’s coming to Netflix’s game subscription service.

Developer spotlights

Two of the video segments were light on game details, but outlined Annapurna partnerships that will bear fruit. Marumittu is a Kyoto-based studio headed by a husband-and-wife team, while Glass Revolver is an American studio headed by Jacob Williams.

Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth

The presentation ended with the debut of Annapurna’s first internally developed game, a franchise title based on Blade Runner called Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth. The futuristic noir trailer was very mood-focused, but it captured the spirit of the films.
