A backflipping cat dad in a sparkly red suit. What TikTok reveals about Raptors draft pick Gradey Dick

Nineteen-year-old Raptors draft Gradey Dick is more than a hoop-shooting phenom — as evidenced Thursday night by his Wizard-of-Oz-inspired sparkly red suit, the Kansas native is a vibrant guy full of personality.

It’s one that he’s been consistently sharing on TikTok, where he now has more than 175,000 followers. Toronto fans can get a glimpse into his world with basketball montages, playful life outtakes, scenic clips and fruit reviews, as well as the occasional dance video with teammates.

Here’s what else his page tells us about the newest Raptor.

He has an impressive backflip

Why cheer when you can backflip? The NBA athlete has more than one video where he sets off into a round-off that ends with an impressive flip.

He refers to his cat as his child

He’s a cat dad. And it makes sense! His cat has a very sweet face.

He’s a fan of the beach

Who said Kansas is a landlocked state? If his feed is any indication, Dick gets a dose of sand, sun and sea wherever he has the chance, and water sports are definitely on the itinerary.

He likes to dress up as Batman

The Batman suit has made a few appearances in Dick’s TikTok, popping up in a couple of photo “dumpskis” as he calls them.

They may have been from the time he posted himself wearing the suit in mid-October, presumably for Halloween festivities, but it’s hard to say for sure: Dick seems like he enjoys having fun with his wardrobe.

He’s not a fan of dragon fruit

While he thinks dragon fruit is beautiful, to him, it “kind of tastes like a loogie”

It’s “definitely not worth the time” it takes to cut it and scoop it out, he declared in a TikTok last year.

In another fruit review, though, he found papaya to be “not bad.”

The winning fruit was a fresh coconut he fetched off a tree in Turks in Caicos, which he gave a 10 out of 10.

He’s got jokes

Dick obviously has a sense of humour, and a TikTok of him playing in Portland last year is just one example of it.

“Had fun playing in portland,” text on the screen reads. “(Excuse my mom recording this).”

In a moment’s notice, a loud scream — actually taken from a TikTok audio and edited in — can be heard in the background.

“My silly mom always gets so excited,” he jokes.
