Why MS Dhoni started to trend after Jonny Bairstow’s controversial run-out

Dhoni later has won the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award of the Decade following a fan vote for his decision to recall Ian Bell. The incident also won the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award in 2011. But Australia wicketkeeper Alex Carey directed an underarm throw into the stumps and Australian team appealed for a run-out. On-field umpires sent the decision upstairs, where TV umpire confirmed Bairstow’s dismissal. England later lost the match by 43 runs.

England coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes believed Australia broke “the spirit” of the laws of cricket in the Jonny Bairstow dismissal at Lord’s on Sunday.

McCullum and Stokes agreed Bairstow was out, technically.
