Maisie Peters breaks record with new album The Good Witch
Maisie Peters has become the youngest female British artist in almost a decade to land a number one album, according to the Official Charts Company.
The 23-year-old Lost The Break Up singer, who released the record The Good Witch last Friday (June 23), is blown away by its success, branding it ‘the coolest thing’.
‘I’m so happy, especially for myself and for my fans and everyone I work with; my band and my crew and my manager and my label,’ she exclaimed to the Official Charts Company.
‘Also all of the fans, we’ve all been on this journey together for the longest time and this album really felt like an album for all of us. This number one is for all of us, too, so thank you so much.’
Last week, Maisie reflected on what inspired her chart-topping album in an exclusive chat with Metro.co.uk.
‘I was really inspired by Lorde’s second album Melodrama, not so much sonically, although it is an amazing album, but more so just how important that album is,’ she told us.
‘It’s her second album and it was so important culturally and to me and my friends, so formative and struck a chord with us, so cohesive.
‘I wanted to make an album that would make other people feel the way I felt listening to Melodrama.’
Maisie also revealed she’d totally be down to support her idol Taylor Swift at her upcoming stadium shows.
‘I would love to do it, obviously!’, she declared excitedly. ‘Taylor is my hero and always will be.’
