Amitabh Bachchan has collaborated with director R Balki on movies such as Cheeni Kum, Paa and Shamitabh. Despite having a strong professional relationship, Amitabh’s stature commands a level of respect on set. Balki shared a funny incident where the veteran actor brought the entire set to a standstill by yelling and screaming for an unknown reason.
Recently in an interview with a leading news portal, Balki said that although he doesn’t shout much while on set, his cameraman is quite the opposite. Remembering an incident from the sets of a movie starring Amitabh Bachchan, Balki said, “Once, Amit ji was on set, and he was screaming… He never screams, he’s the calmest guy.” Balki went up to his van to check on Bachchan and asked if everything was okay with the food. However, the actor did not respond. When Balki again asked what the problem was, Bachchan replied, “You dumb fool, I’m in character.”
Chup: Revenge of the Artist was Balki’s previous project, which starred Dulquer Salmaan, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Sunny Deol, and had a brief appearance by Amitabh Bachchan.
Balki’s upcoming project is a segment in Lust Stories, a Netflix anthology film, alongside directors Konkona Sen Sharma, Sujoy Ghosh, and Amit Ravindernath Sharma. Following that, Balki will direct Ghoomer, which will also have a cameo by his favourite star.
