‘Idyllic’ destination is the perfect dupe for Tenerife

Tenerife, one of Spain’s beautiful Canary Islands, is a leading destination for Britons. Sadly, that means flights can come at a hefty price.

However, new research from Skyscanner has found that Britons could save by changing their holiday plan and travelling to an equally beautiful European destination.

According to the team at the flight comparison website, over a third of Britons still haven’t booked a summer holiday.

Any Britons willing to change their destination, could pick up a bargain flying to Naples instead of Tenerife.

The Skyscanner team found that flights to Naples were nearly 60 percent cheaper than flights to Tenerife.

A spokesperson added: “From Naples, head to the picturesque village of Atrani, located along the Amalfi Coast (only much less crowded). Enjoy its colourful cliffside perch and idyllic beach with views of the Tyrrhenian Sea.”

Atrani on Italy’s Amalfi Coast has one of the region’s best beaches and has a population of fewer than a thousand people.

In Naples itself, tourists can explore the magnificent Museo Cappella Sansevero or wander the Catacombs.

Naples is also the home of pizza in Italy and tourists can’t leave without sampling a traditional margherita.

Tourists can also try fried pizza or grab a sfogliatelle for dessert, a flaky pastry often filled with ricotta.

A Skyscanner spokesperson added: “Searching by multiple dates is one of your best chances of finding a bargain.

“Flight prices are all based on supply and demand. Because some dates are more popular than others, prices will vary.

“Skyscanner’s ‘whole month’ search tool allows you to see cheap flights at a glance and pick the right deal for you.

“Consider travelling a day before or a day after your original departure dates, as flying on less popular days of the week can be cheaper.”
