Olivia went to get a three word tattoo. Then her life changed forever
A loved-up couple who fell in love over the tattoo needle marked their nuptials in a special way -by inking each others’ initials onto their fingers.
Olivia Johnson, 29, met her future husband, Kyle, when he tattooed her in December 2019.
The pair, from Ontario, Canada, quickly hit it off, and got engaged just a year later.
Now, they’ve become husband and wife, and got matching ring finger tattoos to honour their love.
‘It was very special,’ said Olivia.
‘Kyle can’t wear his ring a lot when tattooing as he wears gloves so it’s easier for him as well.’
Olivia was getting a tribute tattoo when she met Kyle four years ago. She got the quote, ‘take it easy’ on her arm – a homage to her late grandad, Steve, 77, who passed away in September 2019.
‘I thought Kyle was attractive, and I had a crush on him,’ says Olivia.
‘He’s very shy. He didn’t charge me for the tattoo but didn’t say anything else. So, I then sent him a message to ask him out.’
‘We moved quickly from there.’
After their first date, the pair hit it off and moved in together four months later. Then, Kyle proposed to Olivia on Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
Inspired by Beyoncé and Jay Z’s matching ring finger tattoos, Olivia decided she and Kyle should do the same.
‘I thought it was such a cool idea,’ she said.
The pair even inspired Olivia’s parents, Cindy and Dale, to get matching ink to celebrate their 36th anniversary.
As a tattoo artist, Kyle was able to design and tattoo the ink onto their fingers – and they each went for different styles to keep it personal.
‘I have a ‘K’ that is very dainty. Kyle has a bold ‘O’,’ said Olivia.
‘We posed for the pictures on our wedding day, and Kyle drew them on, but we had to get it done properly the next day because there was just not enough time.’
Olivia and Kyle also have a matching bee tattoo being their ears – to symbolise the tattoo parlour they own together – The Hive Tattoo & Co.
They plan to continue getting matching ink when they visit different places together – and hope to get one when they visit Nashville, Tennessee, for their anniversary.
