Elton John appears to snub Dua Lipa in subtle dig at epic Glastonbury set
Despite being heavily speculated to appear as a surprise guest during Sir Elton John’s Glastonbury historic performance, Dua Lipa was a no-show.
The 76-year-old Rocketman artist performed his first and last show at Worthy Farm on Sunday night with a spectacular two-hour set that included crowd-pleasers such as Tiny Dancer, Your Song and I’m Still Standing.
The set was billed as Sir Elton’s final UK gig before he retires from touring at the end of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
While there had been rumours aplenty that Dua would be stopping by to perform their duet Cold Hearts, the legendry singer instead was joined by Jacob Lusk of Gabriels, The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers, and singer Rina Sawayama.
And when it came to Cold Hearts, Sir Elton didn’t mention Dua by name and called on the crowd to sing her piece.
‘The person I did this song with isn’t here, so I’m going to ask you to sing her part please and sing it loudly.,’ he said, introducing the track.
As a result, lots of people were left wondering… where is Dua Lipa and what was she up to instead of being on the Pyramid Stage?
Thanks to the power of social media, Dua herself revealed that she spent her Sunday cooking up a storm for her family and friends.
She shared photos of a beautifully decorated dinner table while also confirming that she was in the company of her younger sister, dancer Rina, and model Frances Phillips.
Letting her 88.4million followers in on what was on the sizzling summer menu, the 27-year-old posted images of a prawn and garlic dish and a burrata on a bed of roasted courgettes for an al fresco meal.
Captioning one upload, she wrote: ‘cooking for my friends & fam’ alongside a love heart emoji.
Dua later broke her silence on Sir Elton’s Glastonbury set by sharing a clip of his performance of Cold Hearts to her Instagram Story with a string of heart hand emojis.
Sir Elton closed his Glastonbury set with the beloved hit Rocketman.
‘I want to thank you all for dressing up in your costumes, your glasses and your outfits, it makes me feel so happy and so loved,’ he told the crowd.
‘I also want to thank you for 52 years of amazing love and loyalty that you’ve shown me. It’s been an incredible journey.
‘I’ve had the best time, I will never forget you, you’re in my head and my heart and my soul, you’ve been amazing.
‘You’ve been an incredible crowd tonight. I wish you love and health and happiness.’
