Openai: ChatGPT maker OpenAI is considering an app store for AI software: Report – Times of India
Citing people with knowledge of discussions at the company, The Information reports that OpenAI “is considering launching a marketplace in which customers could sell AI models they customise for their own needs to other businesses.”
Collaborating with other organisations to help them with artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tools that run on large language models is not a new concept now.OpenAI itself got billions infused byMicrosoft and in turn, the Windows maker has released as well as previewed products that use AI and work as Copilot.A report by The Wall Street Journal said that sometimes OpenAI struck deals with some of Microsoft’s biggest rivals, including Salesforce and DuckDuckGo. The report also noted that “Microsoft and OpenAI sales teams sometimes pitch the same customers.”
OpenAI models upgrade, price cut
In fact, OpenAI recently upgraded its text-generating models and reduced pricing. The move is seen as a response to rising competition in the generative AI space.
OpenAI also announced the release of new versions of GPT-3.5-turbo and GPT-4 with the latter getting a capability called function calling that allows developers to describe programming functions to GPT-3.5-turbo and GPT-4.
Use cases for chatbots
It is to be noted that several companies have now incorporated AI chatbots on their platforms which seems to make sense when it comes to establishing an app store for AI software.
While some companies are using them for customer services, several others use chatbots for marketing. Even Google and Microsoft are exploring ways to use AI in making ads by using the advertising material by clients.
Recently, Opera announced that its generative AI-infused browser, Opera One, is now available for the masses. The browser has Aria, claimed to be the first-ever native browser AI, that is powered by OpenAI’s GPT model.
