Britt Ekland says Bond girls ‘had more fun’ before Me Too Movement

Iconic 70s Bond girl Britt Ekland has claimed modern Bond girls have less fun due to political correctness.

The 80-year-old screen legend starred as Mary Goodnight opposite Sir Roger Moore’s Bond in 1974’s The Man With The Golden Gun.

However, she feels the era of the Bond girl is over as they are “Bond women” now.

“There are no more Bond girls, they are Bond women today,” she claimed.

“They have it with the political correctness and the #MeToo, they have a much better time than we had.

“But I don’t think that the end product is as fun as ours were, because we were pretty and we had good bodies and we didn’t try to look sexy, we just were,” she said in a new interview.

“Today, everything is so, ‘Don’t do that because that will upset that side’. We didn’t have any of that.

“We just went out there, we were always in a bikini and all these people are fully dressed, very typical, but it was a job and we did it.

“So, I think today the Bond women have it – from a political correctness point of view – in a much better position. But I think we had more fun.”

In recent years Bond girls have been played by actresses including Léa Seydoux and Ana de Armas and have had a far more active role in the action.

Britt, who was once married to Pink Panther star Peter Sellars, was one of the most popular stars of the 70s thanks to roles in classic films such as Get Carter and The Wicker Man.

The latter celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and to celebrate a special restoration will be released in cinemas.

It saw Britt star opposite Sir Christopher Lee, who was actually a step-cousin of Bond author Ian Fleming.

Sir Christopher who also starred in The Man With The Golden Gun playing three nippled bad guy Francisco Scaramanga, the man with the golden gun of the title.

Sir Christopher was also a lifelong friend of Sir Roger Moore who played Bond in that outing.
