Father’s Day Special: Best Onscreen Dads that were loved by the audience
Be it Pankaj Tripathi’s unwavering love and support for his daughter in Gunjan Saxena, Kumud Mishra standing with his daughter in the face of a sensitive subject in Thappad. Aamir Khan’s convincing portrayal in Dangal where a father goes above and beyond to make his daughters capable wrestlers is one of the most inspiring stories, to say the least. The late Irrfan Khan gave us one of the most heartwarming films ever with Angrezi Medium telling the story of a widowed father who would do anything to make his daughter go and study abroad. Despite the fights and arguments, one can never get tired of a movie like Piku because underneath all that, was a touching relationship between a father and his daughter that would invariably bring a smile to your face.
There are also a few all-time favourites such as Anupam Kher as Dharamvir Malhotra in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, a father who is more of a friend to his son and motivates him to win over the love of his life. Then we have Naseeruddin Shah from Masoom where despite life’s many challenges, his persistence to be a willing father is heart-touching.
On Father’s Day, here’s glancing through our picks for all-time favourite onscreen fathers:
