WWE legend Jim Ross, 71, suffers nasty injury in ‘bad fall’ before AEW Collision
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has suffered a nasty black eye after a ‘bad fall’ on Saturday.
The veteran commentator, who is widely regarded as one of the best of all time, will be joining Ring of Honor legend Nigel McGuinness and Kevin Kelly as part of the AEW Collision broadcast team for the new weekly show.
However, he will be sporting a gruesome looking injury following an accident hours before the premiere was set to get underway.
He shared a photo of the black eye with concerned fans on social media, but insisted nothing would change regarding his plans for the evening.
JR tweeted: ‘Bad fall this morning. Still headed to Chicago for Collision! Historic night for @AEW on @tntdrama.’
Fans and his fellow pros were quick to offer kind words of support in response to the post, with plenty of people left concerned by the somewhat gruesome photo of Jim’s injury.
‘Take care, Jim. ❤️ Safe travels,’ replied former WWE duo The Bollywood Boyz, while tag team legend Bully Ray quipped: ‘Do a shot of Jack and rub some dirt on it…you’ll be fine. ????????????????????’
‘God bless you sir. Please look after yourself ????,’ a fan tweeted, while another caring follower wrote: ‘Get well soon my friend. The world is a better place with JR in it’
A third person added: ‘Prayers for @JRsBBQ …. he’s one tough SOB. Have a great show tonight Jim, I’ll be watching!’
As well as being the premiere episode of AEW Collision, tonight’s show will also mark the return of CM Punk for the first time since the infamous All Out media scrum in 2022.
His rant that night sparked a legitimate backstage brawl and left many wondering he would ever be back on screen, and while he’s set to have a microphone tonight, Punk will also be in action teaming with FTR against Samoa Joe, Jay White and Juice Robinson.
AEW Collision premieres tonight (Saturday, June 17) at 1am on Fite TV.
