Usman Khawaja’s maiden Test ton in England led a desperately needed Australian fightback on day two of the Ashes opener.
Khawaja walked off at stumps on 126 after steering the Australians to 5-311, with the tourists trailing England’s first-innings total by 82 at Edgbaston.
The left-hander’s century breathed life into Australia’s victory hopes after the visitors found themselves reeling at 3-78 at lunch on the second day.
