Man Utd, Chelsea and Tottenham target David Raya speaks out on his future
Brentford goalkeeper David Raya says he is keen to make a big move this summer, amid interest from the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
The 27-year-old has been impressive since the Bees won promotion to the Premier League, earning himself his first two caps for Spain.
It is no surprise that he is openly talking about a move as he heads into the final year of his contract and has refused a number of offers to sign a new deal with Brenford.
However, he also says that if no move comes about then he will be giving his all to the Bees in his final year at the club.
‘I have ambitions to make the next step in my career. I want to try to win titles and to compete in Europe in the next couple of years,’ Raya told The Times.
‘I’m 27 now and I feel like I’m at the point in my career when I want to make that step up. There are options out there but it’s not just my ambitions, the club also needs to let me go.
‘I’m a professional. If I end up staying at Brentford I will always give my all, that’s my job. If I have to stay, I’ll try to have an even better season than last season.’
Brentford boss Thomas Frank admitted last month that Raya is indeed for sale as the club try to avoid him leaving on a free, setting his price tag at £40m.
‘We only have one player for sale, that’s the one that’s been talked about. That’s David,’ said Frank.
‘He’s £40m. The rest? We are a selling club, but they need to be crazy high amounts if we want anyone to leave. Everyone here is very happy at Brentford.’
