ICSI to soon open doors for Agniveers, defence personnel – Times of India
Speaking to ToI on the sidelines of 24th national conference of practising company secretaries being conducted in Visakhapatnam, ISCI national president CS Manish Gupta said that the ICSI currently has two lakh students, including 3500 from Andhra Pradesh. “The initiative, if turned into a reality, will help the Agniveers find employment after their relieving from their short service. We recently met defence minister Rajnath Singh and explained our academic and training offerings. We are running nearly 40 specialised courses. We are planning to give the admissions at free of cost for both the Agniveers and defence personnel. Another round of meeting with defence officials has been scheduled for June 19. The meeting may lead to some memoranda of understanding regarding the course offerings. This initiative does not only help hone the skills and improve the academic credentials of Agniveers, but also help them resettle and find corporate jobs after their relieving,” said Manish Gupta. He also explained how the ICSI has gone from strength to strength over the years and its recent initiatives such as global collaborations, embracing e-learning in its courses, its offering for MSMEs, its alternative dispute resolution mechanism, and technology adoption.
“The ICSI released its new syllabus at the 50th national convention of company secretaries in 2022. The new curriculum focuses on the core areas of the company secretary profession and supplements it. It lays emphasis on ancillary, legal, managerial, and other technical skills. The new syllabus will ensure a smooth transition of students into governance professionals, corporate managers/advisors by blending the practical, legal, strategic, and managerial aspects together,” said Manish Gupta.
