Coach forced to address rumours around star’s return
Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson has been forced to deny rumours Mitchell Pearce could make a sensational comeback to the club after reports emerged in the last week.
After winning the 2013 premiership at Bondi, Pearce left the Roosters and headed for Newcastle in 2017 when the club replaced him with Cooper Cronk.
The halfback is now plying his trade in France with Catalans Dragons but has been consistently linked with an NRL return which included an approach from the Wests Tigers.

The Roosters have struggled for consistency this year, particularly in the halves with Sam Walker, Luke Keary, Joey Manu and Sandon Smith all rotating in the halfback and five-eighth positions.
Sheens confirms Pearce approach
Despite the uncertainty, Robinson emphasised the rumours are false.
“There’s no truth to that,” he told reporters on Friday.
“He’s a lifelong Rooster and we’re obviously supporting him from afar.

“The Catalans are playing good footy and they’re on a bit of a roll over there with a lot of ex-Roosters.”
Catalans sit first on the Super League table, equal with Warrington Wolves, and scored a 38-4 win over Hull KR with former Penrith Panthers utility Tyrone May scoring.
Pearce return gaining traction
While Robinson was strong that Pearce won’t be at the Roosters in the short term, he did confirm the club legend will reappear in the future.
“He’ll be back at the Roosters doing something at some point,” he said.
“We’re looking forward to that when he’s done at the Catalans.”
