Song Joong-ki, wife Katy Louise Saunders welcome baby boy
South Korean actor Song Joong-ki and his wife, British actress Katy Louise Saunders, are now parents as they welcomed their first child together.
The actor gave a glimpse of his baby boy via fancafe, a black-and-white photo of his hand gripping what seems to be either Song or Saunders’ finger. The image was obtained by Korean media outlet Star News, on Wednesday night, June 14.
Song revealed that his wife gave birth in Rome, Italy, which is said to be her hometown, and which happened a month after he attended the Cannes Film Festival.
“I’m in Italy right now. I finally have my baby here in Rome, my wife’s hometown. He’s a healthy son. The baby and his mother are very healthy, and I’m taking care of my family with a grateful heart,” he was quoted as saying.
The “Vincenzo” star then admitted that having a family was always his “biggest dream,” saying the birth of his son is the “most precious gift” for him and Saunders.
“My biggest dream is to have a happy family. It is the most precious gift to us as a couple. Thanks to your support, this great day came to our lives,” he said. “I always thank [my fans] for their sincere love. I sincerely hope that you will have great happiness in your lives too. And I’ll come back with great work as an actor.”
The “Descendants of the Sun” star confirmed that he and his wife are expecting their first child in January 2023, where he also announced that they already tied the knot. Their relationship was confirmed by Song’s label HighZium Studio in December 2022.
Song was previously married to award-winning actress Song Hye-kyo in October 2017. The ex-couple decided to divorce, which was finalized in July 2019.
The actor is best known for his roles in the hit K-dramas “Descendants of the Sun,” “Vincenzo,” “Reborn Rich,” and “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” among many others. EDV
