Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Footage Shows Dogtown’s Black Market, Overhauled Police

Earlier this week we got a fresh trailer, and tons of new information on Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the next-gen-exclusive story expansion that CD Projekt Red promises will address a lot of the original game’s issues. Of course, fans are always hungry for more info, and today during the Xbox Games Showcase Extended, we got another brief but tantalizing peek at Phantom Liberty.

The new footage focuses on the Black Market found within Phantom Liberty’s Dogtown region. CDPR promises you’ll be able to acquire all sorts of stuff there, including new augments that will allow you to air dash and see through walls. That said, some of the more powerful weapons and enhancements will be potentially dangerous. We also get a quick peek at the Barghest militia in action. These guys will act as the police in Dogtown, and CDPR say their actions will be more “believable, dynamic, and diverse” than before. You can check out the new Xbox Showcase Black Market footage, as well as a quick interview with the always-enthusiastic and charming Keanu Reeves, below.

Definitely looks more lively than some of the market areas in the original Cyberpunk 2077, and I like the idea that what you buy in the Black Market comes with a certain element of danger. Need to know more about Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty? Do check out Wccftech’s full interview with CDPR, which also has additional footage attached. Here’s what they had to say to us about the scope of Dogtown and its various districts…

“Dogtown does have subdistricts within it. Kurt Hansen has his control over all of them. He’s got a lot of wealth and strength through some weapons dealing as well as how he runs the town. There’s so much more I want to say, but it would be spoilers and I’m not going to.

But yeah, it’s broken up in three areas like the upper district, the main kind of strip, and then the lower district. There’s citizens in Dogtown, there’s also outcasts in Dogtown and of course, there’s Barghest, his military militia that’s throughout downtown.”

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty launches on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 (last-gen consoles are thankfully being left behind) on September 26.
