PNB extends P600M credit line to Zamboanga hospital operator

MANILA  -Taipan Lucio Tan’s Philippine National Bank has extended a P600 million credit line to
Metro Zamboanga Hospital and Medical Center Inc. to support its expansion.

The 10-year term loan will be used to finance the ongoing construction and completion of its hospital building.

Metro Zamboanga Hospital will thus be the first eight-story hospital with a helipad in the Zamboanga Peninsula region.

“PNB is ready to help our country – including the provinces – improve the quality of life for the communities through our financing projects,” PNB provincial commercial banking group head Aaron Astor said in a statement on Tuesday.

“This is especially true for industries that thrive and are considered essential in the new normal such as the healthcare industry,” he added.

Metro Zamboanga Hospital, owned by various Zamboanga doctors and businessmen, will have specialized clinical services serving areas such as the islands of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi and the provinces of Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, and Zamboanga Sibugay.

It will also generate employment for at least 300 professional and sub-professional health workers in the region, the statement showed.

“We hope this partnership with PNB would be the start of more productive efforts to benefit our local communities,” said Metro Zamboanga Hospital president Dr. Anthony G. Chan.

He said they also aim to “build and operate a hospital that will remain true to the principle of sustainable delivery of innovative and inclusive health solutions.”
