Rising WWE star Bron Breakker has laid down an unexpected challenge for Seth Rollins.
The new World Heavyweight Champion and future Captain American star knows he has a target on his back after beating AJ Styles to claim the prize, but he probably didn’t expect one of NXT’s brightest prospects to already be calling him out.
As Tuesday night’s episode of NXT went off the air, the nephew of Hall of Famer Scott Steiner had some strong words for Rollins after laying out Ilja Dragunov earlier in the evening.
He said: ‘Why did I attack Ilja Dragunov? Because I’m not gonna let Ilja spit out some garbage about how he’s the most intense guy in WWE, are you kidding?!
‘I’m gonna start holding everyone accountable, all the way from the top to the bottom. Speaking of “all the way from the top”, how about our WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Freakin’ Rollins?
‘Monday Night Rollins, the workhorse of the WWE. You know what? How about you prove it? Because you’re pretty familiar with how we do things here, ’cause you were the first ever NXT Champion and I was the most dominant NXT Champion.
‘So why don’t you come here, and put the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line against me?’
The shocking moment has left fans reeling, with the challenge coming out of nowhere and giving fans the possibility of a match many expected to wait much longer to see.
One such person tweeted: ‘I was thinking in the long term of Breakker going after Rollins’ WHC whenever he gets called up I did not expect it to happen this quickly.’
‘Making NXT feel like a huge deal with this,’ wrote another viewer, while a third fan added: ‘BRON VS SETH FINNA COOK!????????????’
A different person pointed out that WWE is ‘making NXT feel like a huge deal with this’, and yet another Twitter user said: ‘WHAT?! Bron issuing a challenge to Seth. ????’
WWE NXT airs Tuesday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
