Apple store goes down ahead of WWDC keynote tonight – Times of India
For the second year in a row, Apple’s online store has shut down before the WWDC event. During last year’s keynote, new hardware was announced, including 13-inch MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro models powered by the then-new M2 chip.
It is a common practice for Apple to temporarily close its online store before introducing new hardware. The current store closure is probably due to the release of new Macs, which should be available to purchase soon. Meanwhile, the mixed-reality headset is not expected to be made available to purchase immediately. According to Morgan Stanley, Apple’s rumoured headset is still several months away from being released.
One of the Macs expected to be released at the developers’ conference is the 15-inch MacBook Air, which is said to be powered by the M2 chip. Rumours are that Apple could also announce other Macs, including a refresh to Mac Studio. The updated Mac Studio models are said to be powered by the M2 Max and a yet-to-be-announced M2 Ultra chip.
According to rumors, Apple’s inaugural headset will incorporate a novel operating system dubbed “XROS.” This system blends virtual reality and augmented reality, providing users with interactive sports, gaming, workout, and iPad experiences. The headset may also boast advanced features, such as eye and hand tracking, premium displays, and a hefty price tag of $3,000.
It is been reported that Apple will showcase the headset to developers, virtual reality experts, and select media attendees at a keynote event, with plans for it to become available for purchase later this year.
Apple is also expected to announce updates to iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS at the WWDC keynote.
