Huge headache for families visiting Disneyland Paris from this week

FAMILIES heading to Disneyland Paris soon will find it much harder due to new changes being introduced this week.

From Wednesday, the Eurostar will no longer run to the French theme park.

Brits can currently get to the theme park by direct train, running from London St Pancras station all the way through to Marne-la-Vallee, right next to Disneyland.

It takes about two and a half hours to get there – making it an easy journey without having to fly.

However, last year Eurostar said the service was being cut due to Covid as they struggled to recover, and would be prioritizing main routes.

A spokeswoman for Eurostar previously said: “We have taken the decision not to run the direct Disney service between London and Marne-la-Vallee in summer 2023.

“Whilst we continue to recover financially from the pandemic and monitor developments in the proposed EU Entry Exit system, we need to focus on our core routes to ensure we can continue to provide the high level of service and experience that our customers rightly expect.”

Families will now have to get a train to Paris Gare du Nord and then get a local RER train to the theme park.

Or, you can get a train to Lille and then get the French high-speed train (TGV) to Marne-la-Vallee-Chessy station which is opposite the Disneyland Paris.

Mum and travel expert Catherine Lofthouse told Sun Online Travel another alternative way to get to the theme park which she often did instead.

She said: “I’ve been travelling to the Disneyland station Marne-la-Vallée Chessy for 20 years and have only ever chosen the direct route once.

“I normally catch the Eurostar to Gare du Nord and then hop on the RER regional train to Marne-la-Vallée from there.

“Although this is a bit more of a faff, you save a lot as tickets start at £39 instead of £69.”

However, Eurostar has not completely ruled out a return to the theme park in the future.

The spokeswoman added: “We will revisit options for 2024 during the course of the next year.”

Until then, we’ve found cheap Disneyland Paris deals from just £139pp.

Although Eurostar has dealt another blow to tourists, with the London to Amsterdam route expected to be cancelled for all of 2024.
