S Club 7’s Paul Cattermole suffered multiple heart issues says death certificate
S Club 7 star Paul Cattlermole died from multiple heart problems, his death certificate reveals.
Express.co.uk has obtained a copy of the form which confirms the musician from Wareham in Dorset died on April 6 this year, just weeks after it was revealed the pop group were preparing for a major comeback tour.
The form says Paul died from a “cardiac arrhythmia, acute myocardial ischaemia and severe coronary artery atheroma and intraplaque haemorrhage”.
The coroner was informed of the death by the star’s mother Linda.
The S Club 7 star was found dead at his home on April 6 at the age of just 46.
The coroner’s spokesperson told Express.co.uk that investigations into Paul’s death had concluded and that he died of natural causes.
An arrhythmia is a problem with the rate or rhythm of a person’s heartbeat making it difficult to effectively pump blood to other parts of the body, according to the NHS.
Myocardial ischemia, meanwhile, is when reduced blood flow to a person’s heart keeps the heart from getting enough oxygen, impeding its ability to properly pump blood, per the Mayo Clinic.
This typically happens when arteries are blocked and a fatty material builds up inside arteries.
The star had revealed how excited he was about the S Club 7 tour, which is scheduled to begin in October and will now be a tribute to Paul.
A spokeswoman previously said: “I can confirm that Mr Cattermole died from natural causes and our investigations have concluded.”
Dorset Police, who found his body, told the aforementioned publication at the time that their enquiries remain “ongoing”.
After Paul’s death fellow bandmate Hannah Spearritt paid tribute to her “first love” in an emotional statement.
Hannah, who later pulled out of the tour following the heartbreaking loss, said: “Even now, it’s still so raw, I still even now have moments that you don’t quite believe it’s real.
“He was my first love. I had a boyfriend previous to Paul, but I’d say he was my first true love.”
The pair dated for several years during the band’s peak before splitting. They rekindled their relationship for a short period in 2015.
Other S Club members paid tribute to Paul in the days after the shocking news.
Rachel Stevens said: “He’s always going to be with us. He was such a big part of this tour, so involved in everything that we are planning. And we are just going to keep his memory alive and share it with all of you and it’s going to make it even more special.”
Bradley McIntosh said he was in “disbelief” over losing the group’s “big brother”. He said: “No one could ever replace our Paul, but he lives on inside each and every one of us.”
