The England international appears destined to leave Stamford Bridge amid an ongoing contract wrangle that shows no sign of being resolved.
Incoming Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to retain the services of the attacking midfielder but the Argentine appears to be fighting a losing battle.
Mount is already reported to have agreed personal terms with United whose manager, Erik ten Hag, views the 24-year-old as the ideal candidate to add guile and graft to his side’s engine room.
United, however, are yet to agree a fee with their Premier League rivals and the Daily Mail reports that their is a discrepancy of as much as £30million in the respective valuations.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal have expressed an interest in Mount, but the expectation is that United will find a compromise and seal their first major signing of the summer imminently.
Mount’s departure will represent an early blow to Pochettino who is also destined to lose Mateo Kovacic with the experienced midfielder closing in on a transfer to Manchester City.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek is also a key target for AC Milan, while N’Golo Kante’s future is also uncertain amid more protracted contract negotiations.
Pochettino has already identified Sporting Lisbon’s Manuel Ugarte as a potential replacement for his outgoing midfielders, but Chelsea face competition from PSG for the combative Uruguayan.
