The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – How to Unlock Autobuild

At the start of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Link will receive Rauru’s arm to grant him some special powers that will help him fight off the Demon King and his minions. By exploring the Shrines on the Great Sky Islands, you will earn some of these powers, such as Ultrahand and Fuse, that give the game a unique feel compared to its predecessor.

One of the hand’s powers, Autobuild, however, is not unlocked as part of the story and requires you to make an effort. An effort that will be worth it, as this power can make The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom even more fun to play.

How to Unlock Autobuild in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Despite it being one of Link’s hand powers in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, getting Autobuild is completely optional. Potentially, you could complete the game without unlocking it, and you would probably not even notice that something is missing, as, while extremely convenient to have, all Autobuild does is build things you already have created or by following blueprints.

Unlocking Autobuild in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom requires you to explore the Depths for a bit. After obtaining the Paraglider during your first visit to Lookout Landing, you can speak with Josha on the lower floor of the lab to start the Camera Work in the Depths, which will give you the first taste of underground exploration. After this quest is complete, proceed through the game to unlock the A Mystery in the Depths quest by speaking with Josha again. It’s not yet clear what precisely must be done to make this quest available, although completing a Shrine is a sure way to do so.

As part of this quest, you will have to explore the Depths more thoroughly, following the statues’ gaze from one statue to the next. As the Depths are quite dark, make sure to bring a good amount of Lightbloom Seeds to light your way. To unlock Autobuild, you will have to reach the Great Abandoned Central Mine, which can be found at the -0678, -1611. -0512 coordinates. Once at the location, speak with the two researchers, activate the construct, and use Autobuild for the first time to rebuild their vehicles.

After this is done, you will have to fight a returning enemy from Breath of the Wild, who feels that he should have a monopoly on Autobuilding. Defeat him by knocking him off his vehicle with arrows or by getting on the vehicle itself to use melee attacks, and from here on out, you can use Autobuild whenever you want. If getting an easy reward is your thing, speak with Josha in Lookout Landing to fix the hot air balloon to get a Large Zonaite.
