Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield go head-to-head for NTA after ‘fallout’
Just days after their alleged ‘fallout’ led up to Phillip Schofield quitting This Morning, it’s been revealed that he and Holly Willoughby are going head-to-head at this year’s National Television Awards.
On Monday May 22, the first instalment of the ITV programme to air after his departure took place, with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary standing in to commence the half-term break.
In a statement released on Saturday, Phillip, 61, opened up on the ‘very difficult’ past few days, stating that he had decided to stand down with ‘immediate effect’ and acknowledging: ‘I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on.’
Holly, 42, also released her own message, saying that the sofa in the studio wouldn’t ‘feel the same’ in his absence.
In the past, the duo have attended the NTAs together, posing for photographers and celebrating wins collected by This Morning.
However, in just a few months’ time, there’s a chance that they could end up having a tense face-off over one of the most coveted prizes.
The longlist for the NTAs 2023 nominations has been released, with 50 individuals featured as possible contenders to go home with the accolade for TV Presenter.
Voting is now open on the NTAs website, with members of the public given the opportunity to choose who they want to see go home with the award.
All votes must be in by 11pm on Friday June 2, and then after that, the shortlists for the categories being announced at the awards ceremony will be revealed in August, which is when the final round of voting will begin.
The winners will then be announced at the star-studded event on Tuesday September 5.

So what that means is that if enough people vote for Holly and Phillip during the longlist stage of the nominations so that they make it onto the shortlist, then they could both be up for the accolade on the night.
That would certainly make for an interesting turn of events in just over three months’ time!
The former showed off a noticeable stain of mustard and piccalilli on her dress, while the latter explained how they’d gone back to Ant McPartlin’s house as part of their festivities.
With the pair descending into giggles, Holly explained to viewers that she hadn’t been home yet as laughter could be heard from members of the crew off-camera.
The NTAs are due to take place on September 5 2023 and will air on ITV1 and ITVX.
