Sauce Gardner gifted custom Jessica Alba cleats as Knicks game saga continues
Sauce Gardner cannot outrun the embarrassment of not knowing who Jessica Alba was.
The Jets wide receiver attended a Knicks playoff game with quarterback Aaron Rodgers earlier this month, and encountered Alba, who also had courtside seats.
Rodgers, 39, razzed the 22-year-old Gardner for not being aware of Alba’s superstardom, and the actress piled on on social media a couple days later.
Now, Gardner has received a pair of custom cleats bearing two Alba characters, Honey and Storm, from the films “Honey” and “Fantastic Four.”
“My guy @saucegardner didn’t ask for these but it had to be done ???? here’s to new friendships! #jessicealba #storm #honey #nyjets,” shoe artist Mike Jordan shared on Instagram.
“I wanted to do something fun,” Jordan told TMZ. “I hope Jessica likes them, too.”
After the fabled Knicks game, Gardner told reporters that Rodgers was teasing him about whether he knew who all the courtside celebrities were.
“When we were getting seated, [Rodgers] was just picking on me a little bit for being young,” Gardner said at a press conference in early May. “We were getting seated and he was like ‘we’re about to sit by,’ what’s her name? ‘We’re about to sit by Jessica Alba,’ and I’m just like ‘Oh, I don’t know who that is.’ And he just looked at me, he looked at me like I’m crazy.”
Alba saw the video and responded.
“Lol,” Alba tweeted. “I totally see how this kid Sauce got his name, he said to my girl [actress Lizzy Mathis] ‘How can I get caught up when I’m the catch.’
“But in all honesty he was actually very polite with his elder @AaronRodgers12 and everyone else in the room. It was nice meeting you @iamSauceGardner.”
Gardner was jazzed that she remembered what he said.
“Damnn it’s been 2 days and you still remember what I said word for word.. I just might be HIM,” Gardner tweeted, with a laughing emoji. “Nah, but I had a good time with you, @ElizabethMxo, and my chaperone loll @AaronRodgers12.”
Rodgers, of course, had to get a word in as well.
“Chaperone??? Elder???” Rodgers asked, adding several laughing emojis. “You are funny @iamSauceGardner, glad to be helping you meet new people.”
