‘My father was in ICU. Did it for him’: LSG pacer Mohsin Khan after match-winning spell against MI
Mohsin Khan, who was on the sidelines for most part of this IPL due to an injury, dedicated his match-winning performance to his father, who he said was recently discharged from ICU after being hospitalized for 10 days.
“It has been a tough time as I was injured, playing after a year. My father got discharged from the ICU yesterday and he was in the hospital for the last 10 days I did it for him, he would have been watching. I am grateful to the team and the support staff, Gautam [Gambhir] sir, Vijay [Dahiya] sir for playing me in this game even though I did not do well last game,” added the bowler.
Mohsin Khan’s teammates Marcus Stoinis and Krunal Pandya heaped praise on left-arm seamer Mohsin for his nerveless last over. Mumbai Indians needed 11 runs in the last over and Mumbai’s big-hitting Australian duo of Cameron Green and Tim David were at the crease.
“He had been injured for a year, had not played since last IPL and played only one game this season. A big moment for him to come in and bowl the final over.” said Marcus Stoinis, who had made unbeaten knock of 89 off 47 balls for Lucknow Super Giants and who adjudged the Player of the Match.
Lucknow Super Giants skipper Krunal Pandya said “Mohsin has a big heart. He had surgery and playing IPL after such a thing.”
In the IPL points table, Lucknow Super Giants are level with Chennai Super Kings with 15 points, one behind topper Gujarat Titans, who have already secured their place in the playoff. Lucknow finished third on their IPL debut last year. (With Agency Inputs)
