However, a tray might be easier to pull off the work surface by children or curious pets.

Even if the kitchen gadget isn’t filled with boiling or hot water, a kettle to the face or foot – or any body part – will likely hurt.

But, of course, there is also a risk of an even worse burn injury.

Kettles under cupboards are safe, as long as the appliance isn’t faulty.

But the steam that a kettle puffs out can damage your cupboard’s appearance.

Keeping your kettle beneath the cabinet might result in discoloured or weaker wood.
