Liz Hurley admits she ‘felt a bit left out’ of King Charles’ Coronation
Despite helping to raise a record $10.3million (£8.2million) to fight breast cancer at the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) Hot Pink Party in New York on Wednesday (May 10), host Elizabeth Hurley had a tinge of regret after missing out on King Charles III’s coronation.
The 57-year-old actress and health activist had to miss the historic event at Westminster Abbey due to her commitments in the States, and admitted she felt “a little left out” after eventually watching the lavish ceremony a day or so later on YouTube.
She did, though, admit to being thoroughly captivated by the whole event as 74-year-old Charles was officially crowned the new monarch on May 6, along with Queen Camilla.
“I was in America, so I didn’t watch it live,” she told People. “I had to watch it delayed and the bits I watched were absolutely gorgeous, just elegant, beautiful and majestic – and I’m so glad I wasn’t in charge, can you imagine?
“Can you imagine how to organise that?

“My friends had their own tea parties and their own watching parties and of course, I felt a bit left out, opposed to watching it later on YouTube! But it looked magnificent.”
Hurley is a global ambassador of the Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Campaign and was helped out at her event at The Glasshouse in New York by singing superstar Diana Ross, who belted out ‘I’m Coming Out’, ‘Stop (In the Name of Love) and ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’.
There was also a video message from Sir Elton John, who spoke about the “extraordinary” work the BCRF have done over the years.
Founded in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder, the BCRF is the largest private funder of breast cancer research in the world.
Hurley told guests at the glittering event in midtown Manhattan: “I know that for many of us, this evening is bittersweet.
“It’s bitter because I know that most of us have probably been affected by breast cancer in some way, and maybe this past year, you probably know someone who’s been diagnosed, someone who is being treated, or maybe somebody who didn’t make it
“But the sweet part is, you are part of something magnificent – you are here tonight.
“You’re supporting an unbelievable foundation that has done so much for so many people and is going to continue to do so whilst people like you are being so phenomenal, and helping so so much.”
