Android users set for huge boost tomorrow, major announcement expected
There’s a massive evening ahead for Android phone owners with Google expected to announce major news about its hugely popular operating system. The US technology giant’s yearly I/O event kicks off at its headquarters in Mountain View California tomorrow, May 10, and it seems almost certain that more news about the upcoming Android 14 upgrade will be announced.
Although some details about this software have already been uncovered we’re still yet to find out all of the shiny updates that will arrive on Android-powered phones later this year. That should all change tomorrow night when Google could lift the lid on the full list of changes.
We do know that Android 14 looks set to be more secure thanks to it blocking the installation of out of date apps. Effiencincy also seem to be a big change in 2023 with this OS expected to help phones run more smoothly and munch through less battery life.
It will also offer users the option to scale text up to 200 percent that’s a boost of 70 percent over Android 13.
Google I/O will start from 6pm BST and Express.co.uk will bring you all the Android 14 as soon as it’s revealed.
Along with that software there could also be plenty of other big news. It now seems almost certain that Google will also show off some brand new hardware including the rumoured Pixel Fold.
Late last week a surprise short teaser video – with the tagline “May the Fold be with you” – was posted on Google’s YouTube platform which revealed the new Pixel Fold in all of its glory.
Although full specs aren’t dished out in the clip, little else was left to the imagination with Google showing off the design which includes a front cover screen. This then opens like a book to reveal a bigger and much more expansive tablet-style display. It’s expected that this unfolded panel will measure in at over 7 inches which should give users plenty of space for gaming, answering emails and surfing the web.
On the rear case is a triple-lens camera system and it appears the fold will be aimed at the premium end of the market with this device appearing to be covered in glossy glass and a shiny aluminium finish.
There could be an exciting evening ahead so watch this space if you love all things Android.
