David Beckham accused of ‘begging for knighthood’ in King Charles post
Former professional footbaler David Beckham, 48, certainly raised a few eyebrows with his latest Instagram post featuring a carousel of images of King Charles III and Queen Camilla following the Coronation today.
David wrote alongside the royal photos: “Today our country comes together to celebrate the coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla @theroyalfamily.”
However, it wasn’t long before fans flooded to the comments section to accuse David of gushing over the new King in order to secure a knighthood from the monarch.
One Instagram user commented: “B*** licking your way to a knight hood, one cringing post at a time.”
“It’s toe curling stuff,” another agreed.

A third fan replied: “first of all, the second-hand embarrassment I get every time DB crawls to the royals like this is off the charts.
“Second of all…”he’s not going to s**g you David” is my favourite of the comments.”
A fourth urged Charles to just give David the honour, writing: “Charles just give the man A knight hood at this point he’s begging.”
It wasn’t just David’s Instagram comments that were swamped by knighthood jokes, as his wife Victoria Beckham also received a similar response from fans.
Posh Spice, 49, shared several throwback snaps from her meetings with Charles as part of the Spice Girls, after performing at royal events in the nineties.
She captioned the post in view of her 30.8 million followers: “From then to now! I have so many fond memories of meeting His Majesty throughout my career, and he is always so supportive and kind.
“Today is a truly historic day and I’m incredibly humbled to celebrate King Charles III and Queen Camilla as they embark on their new roles. VB.”
“David’s still not getting a knighthood,” one of the fashion designer’s followers cheekily remarked.
While another quipped: “imagine Charles gave Victoria one, David would flip.”
It comes after David was snubbed from the New Year Honours list in 2022 once again in his long wait for a knighthood.
David’s fans have often hit out at him being overlooked for the honour after captaining the Three Lions for six years.
However, the star did receive an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2003.
Some have speculated that David getting caught up in the Ingenious tax avoidance scheme in 2013 could have hurt his chances in getting a knighthood.
The former Manchester United player has since been cleared of any wrongdoing and had been added back to the official recommendations list in 2021.
The star was also spotted showing his appreciation for the monarchy by queuing up for hours with the rest of the public to see the Queen Lying in State following her death last year.
