Brian May marks milestone with wife Anita in loved-up display

Over the weekend Sir Brian May’s wife Lady Anita Dobson turned 74 and the Queen legend marked the special occasion with a trip to Italy.

Taking to his official Instagram account on Saturday, the 75-year-old rocker shared two candid videos alongside his other half.

Smiling at the camera, the happy couple then turned to face one another as they looked adoringly into each other’s eyes.

Brian and Anita both sported hats and scarves to wrap up from the cold, as the second clip showed the actress laughing animatedly while the guitarist attempted to position the camera correctly.

In a heartwarming birthday message, the Queen star penned: “A very Happy Birthday to my amazing Lady Anita! And how perfect to celebrate in beautiful #ITALY!!!

“We love it so much. Thanks to everyone here for making Anita’s day so perfect !!! You know who you are! Grazie mille !!! Bri.”

Fans flocked to comment on the adorable as many sent their birthday wishes to Anita.

Ginny remarked: “Awww, Dear Sir Brian and Lady Anita, the two of you are a joy to see as you celebrate Anita’s birthday in Italy. You seem like youngsters on a first date, giggling and having a blast. Your happiness is contagious. Thanks for sharing your fun with us.”

Magnolia added: “Aw how sweet! Honeymoon style! I think it’s great!”

The couple married in 2000 having first met in 1986, when the Queen guitarist was still wed to his first spouse Christine Mullen.

After separating from the mother of his three children James, Louisa, and Emily in 1988, he struggled with depression over his perceived failure as a husband and father.

During a joint interview on Loose Women back in 2015, doting dad confessed: “We’ve kind of been together since 1986 – a little bit off and on but then we got married and it’s been good.”

Anita added: “There was a slight overlap, [I’m a] scarlet woman, not that I’m proud of it.”

“That’s another thing that’s sort of taboo but happens and it’s an inevitable process which everyone resists, I did, I tried to,” Brian explained.

The happy couple explained that their marriage is a work in progress and it’s not always been plain sailing.

During a 2016 interview with The Mirror, Anita shared: “There’s no secret, it’s hard work. Even though Brian’s the love of my life and he’s absolutely adorable, it’s not easy and we have to work at it.”
