Royals not ‘untouchable’ as William and Kate only hope, claims TV star

Ahead of King Charles’s Coronation, which will take place in a matter of days, has come under scrutiny by the former Apprentice star.

Ryan-Mark Parsons spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk as he also touched on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell claims about life as a working royal, to Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The GB News commentator admitted he had a lot of admiration for the royal family when Queen Elizabeth II was alive.

“They have become the British Kardashians,” he commented, as he referenced Harry’s explosive memoir Spare.

He continued: “I actually had so much admiration for the royal family when the Queen was alive. I went to a garden party last year, I’ve performed for Prince William, I met him and we’ve spoken.

“In many ways, I’ve been an advocate for the royal family. It’s a very valued part of a country.”

Ryan-Mark suggested Harry and Meghan’s interview and Netflix docuseries ultimately “trivialised” the institution and as a result the royals have “lost their magic”.

The on-screen star does, however, believe the Prince and Princess of Wales could be the change the royals need.

“I’m not really the biggest fan of Charles,” Ryan-Mark commented. “I think he is also marred by a lot of controversy as well, especially with everything that happened with Princess Diana and Camilla.”

He continued: “Now this whole ongoing situation with Harry and Meghan. I think it has diluted the specialty of the family.

“I think it’s always been the case, especially when the Queen was alive, the Queen’s mother and her dad, they’ve stepped above the rest of us. It’s always been this untouchable force.

“The Queen is anointed and she is sort of God’s representative on earth. I don’t believe it anymore. It’s lost its spark.”

He added: “But I believe Kate and William can modernise the royal family.”

Meanwhile, millions of people across the UK are gearing up to celebrate King Charles’s Coronation which will take place on May 6.

It is being held at Westminster Abbey and the King, who will be crowned along with Camilla, the Queen Consort, will be the 40th reigning monarch crowned there since 1066.

The formal celebrations will begin with a procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey.

There are several stages to the service, which is expected to last just under two hours.
