There’s not long left now until the Coronation of King Charles III, which takes place on Saturday May 6.

That means if you’re one of the thousands across the country hosting a party to celebrate, you best get planning.

There are a number of things that go into an event like this, from food and drink (Coronation quiche anyone?) to entertainment. The cherry on top, however, is the decor.

‘It’s not a party without decorations, especially when it’s a good old royal knees-up, and balloons and bunting are musts for that traditional street party feel,’ Sarah Allsop, creative manager at online party products retailer Party Delights, tells Metro.co.uk.

She recommends either keeping things traditional with a sea of red, white and blue, or opting for a purple and metallic theme for a more regal feel.

A balloon garland is a great way to invite guests in, while good old bunting, pom poms and tassels are an easy way to adorn your home or garden. A photo backdrop can serve as a fun conversation starter, and you can keep little ones busy with themed games and paper crowns to decorate.

Sarah continues: ‘Styling your party tables will give your event a real wow factor. There is an abundance of options for tableware, cups, plates and cake stands to create a show stopping tablescape.

‘Dress up your food with Union Jack flag picks or even Union Jack cupcake boxes so your guests can take leftovers home.’

Given the last Coronation was 70 years ago, it makes sense to go all out for the occasion. To help you out, we’ve picked out our favourite decorations, props and party supplies that’ll ensure your gathering is fit for a king.
