The Welsh town is further proving itself to be the new Hollywood after actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought the team in 2020, bringing with them a spotlight usually reserved for Premiership clubs.
Since then major A-listers have been to watch the club play, from Blake Lively to Will Ferrell, and the entire cast of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia (though, sadly, lacking Danny DeVito.)
Now the newest Hollywood Wrexham fan has landed, in the shape of Marvel star and all-round legend Paul.
The I Love You Man actor stopped in a local pub where he sank a pint and met supporters, snapped posing for selfies and shaking hands.
And, because Paul is Paul, he even took part in footie chants and a singalong as they got geared up for the match.
In a video shared to Twitter, Paul raised his (plastic) glass as supporters clad in the red Wrexham colours eagerly belted out a song.
Paul is already a majorly popular figure, and this new appearance has cemented him as a legend, with fans flocking to social media to share their thoughts on the ‘mental’ scenes.
‘This is bloody fantastic,’ one wrote. ‘It’s always nice to hear people report back how nice Paul Rudd is.’
‘What a bloke Paul Rudd is,’ another noted,’ while one agreed: ‘Paul Rudd is a really good actor, but more he seems a really nice bloke.’
It comes just days after the Always Sunny cast, headed by Wrexham owner Rob himself, descended on the town to watch a nailbiting match against Yeovil FC.
Co-stars Glenn, Charlie and Kaitlin, who Rob has been married to since 2008, were among the roaring Wrexham crowd as they watched their team beat Yeovil with an incredible 3-0 score.
Four out of five Sunny cast members, as well as executive producer Megan Ganz, were visibly enthralled, snapped wearing the Wrexham colours and scarves and even joining in the chants.
The match was an important one, as it gave Wrexham another three points on the board, but the loss meant Yeovil was guaranteed to be relegated.
Proving yet again that he is nothing like his Sunny character, Rob later took to Twitter where he gave his best wishes to the Yeovil team and supporters, and admitted he found football ‘heartbreaking.’
He wrote: ‘One thing that was lost in the excitement last night was that @YTFC was relegated. I spoke with their managers, a few players and supporters.
‘They were devastated. This sport can be so heartbreaking. They fought hard to the end. I wish them luck and hope they’re back up soon.’
