Netflix’s One Piece: Rumour About Test Screening Not Doing Well Shot Down

Netflix’s One Piece live-action series has been a topic of discussion since its announcement in 2017. Recently, however, rumours started circulating on social media that the show had held a test screening, which reportedly did not go well.

This, of course, made many fans fear that the live-action adaptation may end up being a flop.

The rumour originated from a Twitter user known as @DivinitySeeker1, who claimed to have heard from a credible source about the alleged test screening and the negative responses it received.

The user further elaborated that Netflix was supposedly working on rewriting the script for several episodes in response to the unfavourable reception. The claim was picked up by many outlets. “One Piece tested horribly, the CGI looked bad and the story didn’t make sense to non-fans, and they’re rewriting entire eps,” the claim read.

However, this report was soon debunked by Greg Werner, an official collaborator and consultant who works with Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece (thanks, Comicbook). Even though Werner is not working on the Netflix live-adaptation of One Piece, his association with Oda adds credibility to his statements. He took to Twitter to clarify, stating: “That test audience article that you don’t need to read, click, or share, is entirely untrue.”
