Aussie boxing legend rocked by sudden split
Australian boxer Brock Jarvis has split with with long-time trainer Jeff Fenech as he plans a shock move up to Las Vegas in a bid to move up in weight.
The 25-year-old Sydneysider parted ways amicably with Fenech although they reportedly fell out over his fighting weight, with the 21-1(19KO’s) fighter looking to move up.
Jarvis was seen as a genuine world title contender at super featherweight in 2021 but moved up to super lightweight in October last year to fight fellow Aussie Liam Paro, copping a first round knockout.

In his bounce back fight, Jarvis took on Marlon Paniamogan, a tough Filipino fighter who almost dropped the Aussie in the second round of his No Limit headliner, leaving him dazed. But Jarvis fought back for a stoppage win, a performance Fenech described as “special.”
But now Jarvis wants to move up in weight again and will fight at either super welterweight or middleweight, which could be a jump of 9kg, a massive risk for a fighter who has been rocked by fighters at a lower weight in his last two fights.
That’s what sparked Fenech’s opposition to the move, however, Jarvis is said to be done with stripping down in weight, citing a notable impact on his power in the ring.
“Right throughout my career, I’ve always cut a lot of weight,” he told Fox Sports.
“Been battling the scales for years now.
“And I actually feel like I’ve been going too light and that’s affecting my performance.
“So I want to try something different.
“And middleweight, junior middleweight, I feel I can campaign there for some time.”
Jarvis will travel to Las Vegas on his own and spar at a few gyms in a bid to find the right fit for him moving forward.
Wide World of Sports contacted Fenech for comment and he acknowledged the split.
The situation also hits Fenech on a personal level with Jarvis, with the 25-year-old ending his relationship with Fenech’s daughter Kayla a few months back.
