Strictly’s Oti and Motsi Mabuse in tears over links to Nelson Mandela
Strictly’s Oti and Motsi Mabuse were left deeply emotional and blinking back tears after learning of their grandfather’s war hero past.
The pair then jumped up and down ecstatically after hearing the revelation that the pair are genetically related to Nelson Mandela.
Everyone from Meghan Markle to Andrew Tate seems to have made a comparison between themselves and Mandela in recent months – but the Mabuse sisters are able to claim an actual ancestral connection.
A man who had analysed their genetic material as part of ITV’s DNA Journey broke the news to them on a visit to their native South Africa, prompting a hysterically happy reaction.
“Some quite special people belong to your group and are distant genetic relatives of yours,” he began.

“Don’t say Nelson Mandela,” Motsi shot back, scarcely imagining that it could be true.
The analyst confirmed it, before adding: “And Archbishop Desmond Tutu [too].”
The dancer sisters’ discovery has confirmed they share ancestral membership of the San Tribe with the two historical legends.
The pair, who share another sister, Phemelo, also discovered that they are related to the late musician Hotstix Mabuse.
However, the tears truly began to flow when they heard the compelling story of their grandfather’s wartime history.
Oti begged: “Please don’t think we’re sad – [it’s] a beautiful thing… one of the missing pieces that we’ve missed and needed to hear for so long.”
She clarified after wiping her eyes: “These are tears of ‘Oh my God!'”
The pair learnt that their paternal grandfather had been awarded with a British Defence Medal and an African Service medal during his time in the armed forces.
This discovery led Motsi to marvel: “We had no idea we had war medals in the family”, before vowing to tell her dad.
Their mother Dudu, on the other hand, was more sceptical over claims that they could be related to a Kekana Royal Family.
The sisters revealed that their mother had modestly dismissed suggestions that her great-great-grandmother had been the Queen of a village and had described it as “nonsense”.
