Is Capréa one of the more sustainable beauty brands out there right now?

It might be a brand bringing people ‘probiotic’ skincare, but as well as offering impressive results for our skin, it’s a brand with sustainability at its heart.

The brand is one of those pioneering plantable packaging, with its product boxes embedded with flower seeds to be planted in soil, each package an ode to Mother Nature and a lifeline for bees.

We’ve said it again, but we love a sustainable hun!

This isn’t strictly a new concept in the eco-sphere, but plantable packaging is a big step towards a sustainable and conscious beauty industry, according to sustainability expert and founder of Obsessed Lawn, Matt Hagens.

‘Plantable packaging is an innovative solution that addresses the growing concerns over single-use packaging waste,’ he explains to us.

‘It is made from biodegradable materials embedded with seeds, which can be planted to grow plants, flowers, or even vegetables. This not only reduces waste but also contributes to a greener environment.’

So how does it work? Plant your Capréa box in your garden and then see it bloom into beautiful flowers that will benefit the environment and look blooming beautiful to boot.

Hagens also advises that it’s important for companies to educate consumers on the importance of plantable packaging and how it can make an impact.

He told us: ‘Many consumers may be unfamiliar with plantable packaging, so it’s essential to provide clear instructions on how to use it.

‘This can be done through engaging packaging designs, detailed inserts, or even online tutorials. Brands should also communicate the environmental benefits of plantable packaging to encourage consumers to embrace this sustainable alternative.

‘Businesses can also collaborate with local initiatives. For example, partnering with local gardening clubs, schools, or community organisations can help raise awareness about plantable packaging and its benefits.’

As well as having great eco-credentials, Capréa products are responsibly sourced and made ethically in small batched supporting low-income workers in Turkey.

The brand also donates 2% of its sales to charities, including the TURKISH MOSAIK foundation to help survivors recover from the devastating effects of the 2023 earthquake.
