Following several rumors, Valve finally confirmed the development of Counter-Strike 2. The popular shooter franchise’s latest title was announced yesterday, with a Summer 2023 launch.
The game will arrive as a free update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The trailers for the game have showcased improvements from the original in a variety of areas. This includes visuals, overhauled maps, tick-rate-independent gameplay, and more. It us being described as the “largest technical leap forward in Counter-Strike history.”
Following the announcement, several streamers and professional players of the CS:GO scene took to Twitter and other platforms to voice their opinions on the upcoming title.
One of the most intriguing aspects of Counter-Strike 2 is the new smoke grenade mechanics, which opens up a whole new of playing the shooter series. Streamers like TimTheTatman explained how big of a change the new mechanic is.

On the other hand, former CS:GO professional and superstar streamer Shroud was impressed with the changes in other areas, such as UI enhancements. He has also began playing the title, after receiving invites to the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test.

Everything you need to know about Counter-Strik 2 Limited Test
Prior to its Summer 2023 release, Valve has announced that several players will stand a chance to play the title through the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test.
Currently, the Limited Test offers Deathmatch and Unranked Competitive matchmaking on Dust2. However, more features, modes, and maps will added in future releases.
The Limited Test isn’t available to every player in the Counter-Strike community, as it’s invite-based. Valve has revealed that players for the Limited Test are selected on the basis of factors like, “recent playtime on Valve official servers, trust factor, and Steam account standing.”
Upon a player’s selection to the Limited Test, they’ll receive a notification in the main-menu of CS:GO, where they can choose to “Enroll” and download Counter-Strike 2.If you haven’t received any notification, worry not, as the developers have confirmed that more players will receive invites over time.
