The Last of Us Season 2 Poster Teases Crucial Sequel Character

The Last of Us fans were mourning the fact that there was no new episode of the HBO series last night, but they did get another little treat: a poster teasing The Last of Us Part II’s most crucial addition.

“No TLoU on HBO tonight. But Season 2 is already on its way!” Neil Druckmann, co-creator of the video game and producer on the HBO show, tweeted. “Endure & survive!”

He included a poster showing a pretty unmistakable forearm: that of Abby’s, a key character in the game’s sequel.

Warning: Plot details for The Last of Us Part II and Season 2 to follow.

Abby is easily the most important character added in Part II, both for her rather infamously violent introduction and for the fact that she’s a playable character for a good chunk of the game.

In the poster, that absolutely jacked forearm of hers is wielding a hammer, one of her melee weapons in the game. Interestingly, a golf club is not the weapon featured here; players will know how important that item is to the beginning of Part II.

Abby, who was played by Laura Bailey in the game and hasn’t been cast yet in the show, will no doubt be an important part of The Last of Us moving forward, as Druckmann has already confirmed that the HBO series will cover the story of Part II.

What’s not clear, however, is how many seasons it’ll take to tell that story. Showrunner Craig Mazin previously told IGN that Part II is “more than a season’s worth of television for sure,” but neither he nor Druckmann has confirmed an exact number.

What has been confirmed is that it’ll take us a little while to see any of that play out. Star Bella Ramsey said in a recent interview that The Last of Us Season 2 won’t arrive until late 2024 or early 2025.
