A UK beach ‘feels like you’re abroad’ & it’s one of the cheapest places to visit
HOLIDAYMAKERS in the UK have been stunned by a beach that they claim makes them feel like they’re abroad.
Staycations are becoming increasingly popular with Brits who aren’t keen on forking out for flights and hotels abroad.
Fortunately there are plenty of stunning beaches in the UK where they can still feel like they’re in a different country.
One of those beaches is Mermaid Beach in Folkestone, Kent, which one Tiktoker said made her feel like she wasn’t in the UK.
Riya (@ri1ya) visited the seaside resort for a staycation last summer and was blown away.
In a video, she described the destination as: “The one beach in the UK that had me feeling like I was abroad.”
Others were also shocked by the beach and couldn’t believe that the beach was in the UK.
One wrote: “How beautiful, shocking it’s in the UK.”
Another said: “Omg this is so pretty.”
A third added: “My home! it is so lovely in the summer!”
There’s much more to Folkestone than just the beach too, with TripAdvisor pointing visitors in the direction of some great local activities.
While the seaside features heavily, with Leas promenade and Folkestone harbour high up on the list, places like Terlingham vinyard and the Battle of Britain museum show there’s other things to do.
What makes Mermaid Beach even more appealing is the fact that it’s just a stone’s throw away from Hythe, which is the cheapest seaside staycation for 2023.
Holiday website Independent Cottages ran the numbers to work out which UK beach resort offers the best value for money.
And it turns out that the town in Kent takes the crown for the most affordable holiday spot in the UK.
The staycation accommodation provider analysed which coastal
destinations offer the cheapest average staycation property prices as
well as the cost of an ice cream cone and fish ‘n’ chip meal in the
destination’s top-rated eateries.
Kent, as a region, had two of its seaside destinations in the top five, with Hythe joined by Ramsgate, highlighting that the region is offering some of the best value for 2023 staycations.
Independent Cottages’ CEO Matt Fox said: “The cost of living crisis is
continuing to encourage people to tighten their purse strings and many will be looking for where they can get the best value for money when it comes to holidays this year.
“Luckily, when it comes to the seaside, we really are spoilt for choice in Britain as it’s home to so many wonderful destinations that can offer a wonderful coastal getaway for every need and budget.”
Meanwhile, these are some of the best hot tub staycations to book this year.
And these are some of the most tranquil staycation spots in the country.
