Jefferson Parish District Attorney Paul Connick Jr. has refused to prosecute Maye due to “insufficient evidence,” according to a statement obtained by an NBC affiliate in New Orleans.

The NFL player was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm after the incident that occurred on August 29.

He was then released from the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center after posting $30,000 bond.

“Marcus vehemently denies the allegation from a motor vehicle incident, and looks forward to defending himself when all the facts come out,” Maye’s attorney, Eric Hessler, claimed at the time.

The former Florida standout started in all 10 games he played for the Saints in the 2022 season.

He started his NFL career with the New York Jets after they drafted the safety in the second round of the 2017 draft.

The Florida native moved to New Orleans last summer, signing a three-year, $28.5million contract with the team in free agency.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s office for comment.

Maye’s charges are dropped a month after his Saints teammate, Alvin Kamara, was indicted in connection with an alleged beating incident.

The five-time Pro Bowl running back allegedly punched Darnell Greene Jr. eight times at a Las Vegas nightclub the night before the 2022 Pro Bowl.

He was arrested and taken to Clark County jail after the ensuing Pro Bowl game.

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Chris Lammons, Percy Harris, and Darrin Young were also arrested in connection with the incident.

Greene Jr.’s injuries reportedly left him unconscious with an orbital fracture around his right eye.

Kamara’s attorney said the state “avoided a contested preliminary hearing” by indicting the star running back.

“He intends to vigorously fight the allegations at trial as he was defending himself and others at the time of the incident,” Kamara’s attorney added.
