A PLACE in the Sun presenter Laura Hamilton has issued a warning to anyone thinking about buying a property in Spain.

Laura Hamilton is a TV presenter who is known for her roles on shows like A Place in the Sun, Fort Boyard and Blue Peter.

In a recent episode of the overseas property show, Laura, who is also a property expert, issued a warning to anyone looking to buy a home in Spain.

According to Euro Weekly, Laura gave her guest Jennie a “serious reality check” over her small but highly-optimistic budget.

Jennie, who was looking to purchase a two-bedroom holiday home in the Costa del Sol in Spain, had a budget of £85,000.

Despite being able to push to £87,500 for the right home, the TV presenter frowned at her guest.

Laura said: “I have to give you a serious reality check, a budget of under £90,000 for a two-bedroom property is going to be exceptionally tough.

“So I think in terms of your budget, we are definitely going to need to have some flexibility there.”

In the episode, the presenter showed her guest a handful of properties in the resort town of Estepona in the Costa del Sol.

But the flats were smaller than the guest anticipated, so she decided not to make an offer on any of the properties.

The TV presenter believes that many foreign buyers haven’t realised that the Spanish property market hasn’t recovered.

House prices in Spain are considerably higher compared to the bargain prices that were seen after the financial crash.

The rise in house prices has led to many buyers not realising how far their limited budgets will go.

For buyers with small budgets, the presenter suggested buying a property further inland or in a less popular location.

Brits heading to will be pleased to know that Spanish airport authority Aena has confirmed that they are easing the rules that make passengers have to take their liquids out of your bag.
