Jax Jones admits he’d be a singer – if it wasn’t for the nerves

Jax Jones puts the needle on his burning ambition to sing on one of his own tracks.

The super-producer and DJ has had hits with everybody from Demi Lovato and Mabel to Raye and Years & Years.

But, in an exclusive interview with Guilty Pleasures, chart-topper Jax spilled that he is itching to lay down vocals.

‘The thing that I would love to do is sing something myself,’ shared the You Don’t Know Me music maker. ‘I’ve never done it. I’ve been messing around with it, and I think I can have a hit with me singing.

‘I’m just nervous, innit. It’s got to be good enough. I can sing, that’s how I write all my songs… it’s an important part of my process.’

There’s no stopping the 35-year-old after his tune Where Did You Go, featuring MNEK, became one of the most-played songs on the radio last year.

‘Just under Harry Styles, but someone’s got to win, eh?’ he smiled.

‘I’m super-chuffed, man. I’ve been putting out music now for eight years, so to still be doing it like that, young Jax is proud of me.’

Earlier this week he and singer Calum Scott made a surprise appearance in the Love Island villa to perform their new single Whistle, out now.

‘It’s a love song. But it’s also telling you to whistle, and I’ll hear you from anywhere – it is a bit daft, but I guess it’s quite euro-pop,’ he laughed.

The dad-of-one had no problems recalling the most romantic thing he has ever done. ‘When my wife and I got married, I whisked us off to Japan, first-class,’ he explained.

‘We travelled round, Kyoto, Tokyo, and it was a really magical experience.’
