Eraserheads’ Ely Buendia, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro took part in helping their fellow musician, Parokya ni Edgar guitarist Gab Chee Kee, who has been diagnosed with lymphoma and is in need of financial help.

The former bandmates are auctioning a signed custom guitar designed by Chee Kee himself, as seen on Marasigan and Adoro’s respective Instagram pages on Friday, Feb. 3. Details for the bidding are also included in the post.

Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda then expressed gratitude to the quartet, who he revealed is one of the inspirations why he and his bandmates formed their group.

“[Si] Gab ang unang nagparinig sa akin ng Eheads nung 3rd year highschool kami…at nasira na ang ulo ko sa kanila ever since!” he recalled. “Sila talaga ang isa sa pinakamalaking dahilan kung bakit binuo namin ang Parokya.”

(Gab was the first person who [introduced Eraserheads] to me when we were in third year high school. Since then, I have been crazy about them. They are one of the reasons why we created [Parokya ni Edgar].)

“Ngayon, nagbigay na naman sila ng panibagong dahilan kung bakit sila ang ultimate idol namin,” he added. “Maraming salamat, mga idol. This is for Gab.”

(Now, they gave us another reason why they are our ultimate idol. Thank you so much, idols. This is for Gab.)

Miranda disclosed Chee Kee’s condition in January, stating that the guitarist has been in the intensive care unit due to complications. Miranda added that Chee Kee initially opted not to make his condition public, but his family decided to do so as they are needing financial assistance with the “overwhelming hospital bills.”

Other musicians who have set fund-raising efforts and gigs for Chee Kee include Ebe Dancel, Moira Dela Torre, Gloc-9, Shanti Dope, Flow G, and bands Kamikazee, Gracenote, December Avenue and Typecast.  /ra
