This new year, upbeat and technicolor Italian brand, Marni partners with its polar opposite, Carhartt WIP, an American label focused on creating durable workwear in their new collection released on January 14. Confirmed by industry herald @stylenotcom on January 5 through an Instagram post stating insider information from both brands showed “LOOOOTS OF FLORALS” for the new pieces, the campaign was shot by photographer Lengua and styled by Haley Wollens. The frontman– or frontfamily to be precise, features funk icon, Bootsy Collins, his wife, Patti, grandson, Vincent, and musical artist Babyxsosa in their the Collins’ Cincinnati home sporting pieces of the new collection, heavy on neutral patchworks and color block florals.
The collection will officially celebrate the colorful collaboration in this year’s Milan Fashion Week with an in-store jam session in Marni’s flagship Montenapoleone store. “Marni Jam” is a part of the Italian brand’s new global multi-disciplinary project that kick-starts a musical approach to fashion. This collection features reworks of our favorite workwear pieces wrapped in Marni’s kaleidoscope of colors and textural mosaics. With a car coat that plays on shearling, calfskin, corduroy, and canvas, while Carhartt’s Active Jacket is now bathed in a 4-leaf neon clover print– it’s a groovy utilitarian utopia about to take over the world. The collection features multiple pieces from printed tote bags, graphic bucket hats, two-tone t-shirts, reworked Michigan jackets, not-so-subtle canvas slip-ons, and more.
Industrial gets a massive overhaul in psychedelics and funk with the new Marni x Carhartt WIP collection released January 14 in Marni.com and Marni boutiques, as well as selected Carhartt WIP and multi-brand stores worldwide. The collection will reach Japan on January 25.
